From Thursday 5 November classes at A Class Community Learning will close for 4 weeks in line Government Guidance. Nearly all of our classes will now go online to enable us to continue, but unfortunately some will pause for 4 weeks and start back from the 2nd December 2020. If you have not heard from your class tutor and have questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

In this course you will learn practical aspects of many horticultural techniques backed up with the understanding of the principals involved.

The course will be delivered in a friendly and informal atmosphere helping all learners to socialise and learn from each other.

Previous experience is not required as the course will be useful to people working at all levels.

Subject areas are flexible and there will be an element of choice depending on interests and knowledge.

You will learn through different teaching methods, including PowerPoint presentations, practical “hands on” activities, group work, short videos and quizzes.

Note taking will help with learning and is good for reference so please bring a pen, pencil and note pad/paper, 12 inch ruler and eraser. There will be some handling of soil and compost so please bring gardening gloves. Wear casual practical clothing.

There are some additional costs to learners – materials will be discussed the week prior to the planned activity. If agreed in advance the tutor will purchase items in advance with contributions from the learners. Alternatively learners may bring in the required materials, as preferred. This will result in items being taken home eg cuttings, planters, decorations etc.

Other relevant courses and progression opportunities in the area will be discussed throughout the course.
