Beginners Sewing Class
This course covers an introduction of basic sewing skills, from Hand Sewing to Machine.
You will begin by learning the basic techniques which will allow you to expand your skills and remove your fear of using a sewing machine, resulting in you being able to produce simple projects such as Envelope Cushions, Draw String Pouches, Simple Bags and more. Learning along the way such methods as Sewing on a button, attaching a zip etc. right through to following written instructions and commercial patterns, giving you confidence to build on your basic skills and encouraging you to work independently.
No previous experience is required, as this course is for absolute Beginners although the more Advanced sewer is also welcome.
You will learn by demonstration of practical techniques and encouraged to work through your own practical projects at your own pace and with guidance.
Please bring along your sewing machine if you have one and a basic sewing kit of essentials (pins, scissors, tape measure etc), 1 Fat Quarter of Quilting Cotton Fabric measuring approx. 50 x 56cm/19 x 22″ and a notepad and pen.
Later, more sewing equipment may be needed although all basic equipment is available to borrow.
